Womer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, restaurateur, and cherished matriarch who passed away peacefully on the morning of July 11, 2026, at the age of 90. Remembered for her warm heart, remarkable cooking, and unwavering devotion to her family, Alice leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

Born on August 27, 1935, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Alice was the daughter of the late Agatha and William Lastoria. Throughout her life, she became known for her kindness, resilience, and welcoming spirit. Whether offering words of encouragement, preparing a favorite family meal, or opening her home to friends and neighbors, Alice had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.

In 1976, Alice married the love of her life, Merle Womer, beginning a partnership rooted in love, dedication, and shared purpose. Together, they owned and operated Alice’s Pizza Shop in New Wilmington, a beloved local restaurant that became much more than a place to enjoy a meal. Through their hard work and hospitality, the restaurant grew into a gathering place where customers became friends and every visitor was treated like family. Alice’s commitment to quality food and genuine service earned her the admiration of countless members of the community.

Cooking was one of Alice’s greatest passions, and her kitchen became the heart of countless family gatherings. Her homemade eggplant Parmesan and famous “Roni Roll” became treasured family favorites, eagerly anticipated at holidays and special occasions. Although she generously shared her recipes and cooking tips, her loved ones often joked that no one could ever recreate the unique flavor and love she added to every dish.

Beyond her work, Alice found great joy in traveling with Merle after the couple purchased an RV. Together, they explored much of the United States, visiting destinations including Florida, Connecticut, California, and North Carolina. Among all the places they visited, Block Island remained one of Alice’s favorite destinations, offering cherished moments of peace and happiness. She also enjoyed memorable trips to Las Vegas, where she loved spending time with her daughter and trying her luck on the slot machines.

Family remained the center of Alice’s world throughout her life. She treasured the close relationships she shared with her siblings—Pat, Mary, and Barney—and devoted herself to supporting her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love helped shape the lives of those around her, leaving an enduring legacy of compassion and strength.

Alice is survived by her devoted husband of nearly five decades, Merle Womer; her children, Kiley Ferry Cozza (Jack), Robin Ferry Singer (Richard), Robert Ferrara Jr. (Dee), Leslie Ferry Pratt (Phil), Alison Ferry McGrath, and stepson Butch Womer. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.
