INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — Family, friends, and the Indianapolis community are mourning the loss of Molly Nelsen Smith, who passed away peacefully at her home on July 12, 2026, at the age of 30. Remembered for her generous heart, unwavering compassion, and deep love for both people and animals, Molly leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Molly was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, partner, and friend whose warm personality and caring spirit made a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Those closest to her describe her as a free spirit who embraced life with optimism and sincerity, always willing to offer encouragement, lend a helping hand, or brighten someone’s day with her infectious smile.

One of Molly’s greatest passions was her love for animals. Her dogs, Zeus and Hazel, were more than pets—they were beloved members of her family, whom she affectionately considered her children. She devoted herself to their care and happiness, and her compassion extended beyond her own home through her support of local animal shelters and rescue organizations. Whether organizing donation drives or assisting efforts to provide care for animals in need, Molly’s dedication reflected her belief that every living creature deserved kindness and love.

She is survived by her parents, Todd and Kelly (Stellato) Smith; her brother and sister-in-law, Zach and Luci Smith; her sister and brother-in-law, Ally (Smith) and Andy Adams; her nephews, Taylor Smith, Zander Smith, and Knox Adams; her nieces, Aria Adams, Selah Smith, and Lennon Smith; her grandmothers, Janet Smith and Barbara Littell Taylor; her significant other, Charles Morlock; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Molly was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Neil Smith and Ralph Stellato, and by her beloved cat, Pixie, whose memory she held close throughout her life.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Molly’s life on Saturday, August 15, what would have been her 31st birthday, at Ironwood Social from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The gathering will provide an opportunity for loved ones to share stories, celebrate her remarkable life, and honor the compassion and joy she brought to so many.

Although her life was far too short, Molly Nelsen Smith leaves behind a legacy defined by love, generosity, and unwavering kindness.
